When to mate my dog

I have a westhighland terrior I want to mate she is in season as been for 4 days now when is it the right time to mate my dog??

Answer #1

I truly hate it when someone ask for help about mating their dog and the only response is “dont mate” “you should spay” or “seriously don’t add to animal over population.” someone would not be on here asking such questions if people actually answer the dam question in other forum. I am researching and interested in learning more about breeding my dogs, but most of the sites that I had gone 2 had people telling others that they should spay and not breed their dogs. you am sorry, but I can’t afford to seek advices from the vet for a fee when there is google. If you can’t answer the question, why even bother answering it with “ please spay your dogs.” spaying is your opinion and not mine so dont even answer if you dont have answer to our questions~!

Answer #2

get your dog checked for skin probs bc 60% of all westie will have it

Answer #3

DON’T, seriously don’t add to animal over population. Please spay and neuter your pets! Mating them is dangerous and could be deadly to your pet if something goes wrong. If you don’t know what you are doing it could be more harmful to your pet than fun for you.

There are enough animals in shelters as it is, don’t breed your dog and have a whole litter of puppies that will take loving families away from dogs that really need help in shelters because they will be adopting your dogs instead.

If you really love animals you wouldn’t add to animals being killed in shelters just for the crime of not having a loving home open to them.

Answer #4

I agree with dullikeglitter. If you don’t know how to, then don’t do it. Animals are hugely overpopulated and there is no reason to breed more animals. We have enough abandoned dogs that need homes out there.

Take your dog to your local SPCA or vet and get her fixed.

Answer #5

If you don’t even know this much about breeding (and ALL this information is on the internet)…then what are you going to do when she whelps pups? What are you going to do if there is a problem giving birth? What are you going to do if the pups begin to fade?

There’s a lot to know before you take this on…why not study up on the subject BEFORE you take the next step??
