First, make an honest appraisal of your motives for breeding your dog. Is it for money? Ego? Do you love the breed so much, you want to improve and/or maintain the qualities of that breed?

Second, you study the “standards” for the particular breed of dog you have. Does it meet those standards in charactor and physic?? If not, then don’t breed it.

Then you do some studying on genetics, and do your upmost to improve or at least match those standards, in order to NOT bring a batch of sub-standard pups into this world…there’s plenty of them already.
