When should kittens start to be weaned?

They’re 3 weeks old. When should we start weaning them and how?

Answer #1

The mother will begin to wean them - you don’t need to worry about that.

Usually between 6 and 8 weeks the mother starts to push them away…then you’ll know it’s time to start them on solid food as well (you can start them on food at about 4 weeks)

Answer #2

My mama cat never totally weaned kittens until they were nearly 4 months old…the same with the barn mama…start putting kitty kibble, soaked in warm water in front of them as soon as they start getting teeth (that’s about 4 weeks)…
