when playing rugby, may I wear a hard knee brace?

im about to play rugby for the first time since my knee injury in 2007, am I allowed to wear a hard metal knee brace? will they make me pad it? or will I just have to wear a soft one.

Hey man.

Dude rugby isnt a sissy sports so they most likely will NOT give you shit about it, if its realy like a open piece of metal and can easely cuase an injury they will ask you to romove it.

If posible just wear a soft one, pading wont word becouse your knee move a lot and it will iretate you forsing you to think about the knee instead of concentrating on the game.

Hope this helped

Agreed. I am just coming off of MCL/ACL/meniscus/fractured patella injury. True, rugby is not a sissy sport, Union rules indicate that hard braces are not legit. Considering I play 8-man and flanker, I need all the knee support I can get. Just played in a tourney this weekend and this is the secret sauce. Take your hard brace (carbon fiber, what have you) and buy a couple cheap neoprene braces. Wrap the hinges in some cut up neoprene. Then, take a big neoprene brace and put it over the whole brace. No one notices, and it is a quick correction for anyone trying to hit from the side of a ruck.
