When do you need your parents around the most?

During primary school years? or When you are in highschool?

The reason I ask is that I see so many mums start work when their kids start highschool becuase they think they are old enough to cope without their parents but I actually think thats when they need their parents the most?

Answer #1

High school, that’s when they (might) start the things their parents won’t like, plus the emotional support.

Answer #2

high school deff. I dont know if I could have lived without my mom. drama is horrible in high school, getting girlfriend/boyfriends, making and losing friends. some kids say they hate their parents and dont need them but when something happens thats the first person they run to.

Answer #3

High school for sure. I’m still in high school and she travels all the time I maybe see her once a week. My sister moved out a year ago so I’m all alone…all the time. I wish I had someone to talk to who has experienced going through high school already and all the things that come with it

Answer #4

You’ll always need your parents lifelong - especially in the young formative years where they learn values, character, morals, how to treat others, etc. that will allow them to grow into quality adults.

Answer #5

I need my mom more in highschool than I did with primary school. Between Friendships, drama, boys, and just growing up in general,I dont know what I’d do without her there to help me through everything.

Answer #6

In high school… by far!

Answer #7

I need my mum more through first second third and forth year not as much the last two years of highschool though … because I want to be more independant

Answer #8

High school, me too, but I was a very delinquant teenager and my mom had no choice but to “give up” on me, she did her best. (I turned out ok though!), but she was always there when I needed her, and still is, and she’s the reason I didnt get into drugs or didnt hang out at the park at night when I was 13 years old. :) Good luck with that!

Answer #9

I see what you’re saying, but a single income family is simply not feasible anymore… Only the upper middle and upper classes can afford to survive on a single income. My guess is moms go back to work so that their kids can go to college…

Answer #10

I need my mum more when I am in high school. Times get emotional more now than primary school. If I didn’t have her…I would be pretty messed up right now, let me tell you that. Britz

Answer #11

Thats what I thought but so many parents go to work as soon as their kids hit 10-12 its not funny. I work too but I always drop them of and pick them up. Except for the odd occasion like last week when there was a death in the family of my boss.
