What to do when your Pregnant Cocker Spaniel Isnt eating enough?

My ccker Spaniel is 4-5 weeks pregnant and her eating habit are horrible. All she wants is table food, Absolutely no dog food. I try to just leave her dog food in her bowl and it will sit there 2 days. Being that she’s pregnant an I know she has to eat I feed her what ever meat I eat. Is this ok?

You could try mixing table food and dog food together and decrease the portion of table food over time untill your only giving her dog food . Oh and make sure the dog food is puppy food it gives more nutrients to the pups.

All what phrannie said. Duhhh, well of course she’s THE brightest crayon in the box when it comes to animals. But pleaseee, after she has her pups please get her spayed. D: (: HaveeeFunnWiithYourNewPuppss. ! Dogluver

Exactly!! she will not eat because she knows ill feel sorry for her and feed her. Trying to convert her back over in the middle of pregnancy? Is that a good idea?. She can be very stubburn an I dont want that to hurt the pups…

Stop with the table food…then start thinking about a different kibble for her. One that is highly palatable…Dogs seem to find Evo pretty tastey as well as Taste of the Wild, Orien products, Wellness…these are also highly nutrictious kibbles (no fillers), made with fresh ingredients.

Now let me tell you this…dogs are VERY adept to picking up on our eating worries. It took me a long time to figure out that I was the common denominator in all my dogs not wanting to eat. I fretted and stewed, spoon fed, hand fed, etc etc…she’s figured out that if she doesn’t eat, she’ll get what’s on the table…and she’s picked up on your worry, too…and is cashing in on it. Never underestimate a dog…

No, dogs should eat their own food, not from the table. Have you tried different types of dog food? Sometimes dogs prefer a different brand when they are pregnant.
