What mouse traps should I get if I have toddlers?

I have two toddlers, one is 3 and the other 2, and a mouse problem. What non-poisonous traps can I get that aren’t the spring ones, which could hurt my children? I came across an electronic mouse trap by victor The trap is safe for children, but I wanted to get some opinions before purchasing.

There are also ones that are like a little enclosure with pellets to entice them in… but when they go in they are STUCK, they end up dying of starvation and I also think some of them have poison in them - but a child couldn’t get to it

Honestly, mouse traps don’t hurt people much, if you get the spring ones, your kids are only going to touch them once.

I have had great success with the TOMCAT brand of lures and traps, they make a live trap that is clear smoke colored plastic- you bait it with a drop of their lure and it works really well, it is a simple swinging door design that only allows the mouse to walk in, this trap would be perfectly safe around your kids. you will have to figure out how you want to dispose of the live mouse after you catch it however. the tomcat lure worked so well that one of my friends left it sitting in their shed and the mice chewed through the bottle to eat it.

Answer #4

don’t get the regular spring ones with kids…they can break fingers…i would suggest the catch and release traps but be sure to let them go far far away from your house…..poison is an OK option if you put it places like behind the stove, fridge, washer, dryer, etcetera, where kids and pets can’t get to it but then there is an issue with them dying in the walls and the smell associated with it….good luck
