What kind of things should I put in this letter?

At college, our year is having 30 students to do this extra session during school time to talk about the Holocaust with a Holocaust survivor. For my work, I need to write a letter to one of the teachers on why I should go on it. I would really love to do it, because I adore history and it would be really interesting. I need some ideas on what I should write - please help!!

Answer #1

You’ll want to know how the holocaust came to be. Imagine how difficult it was trying to convince the public that it was the right thing to do. How did that happen?

You’ll want to know from the survivor, what the sequence of events were that led up to the holocaust in their opinion. Remember that the survivor lived through the era and try and keep your questions somewhat sensitive.

Unfortunately, I can pretty much guarantee that it would be interesting is the punchline in everyone’s letter - that won’t get you in.

If you can figure out how it has affected the people in your life (family, friends, maybe even neighbours) that might prove to be more substantial. It’s possible someone you know has some experience with it…there’s your golden ticket.
