What kinds of things should I bring to college next year?

You basically need smaller versions of everything you use in your home. A small refrigerator and microwave oven. Most dorms have rules against hot plates with exposed elements but a hot pot let you to heat up some late night soup or water for coffee or tea. You don’t need a big stereo (will just get you in trouble) but a good dock or set of speakers for your smartphone or mp3 player will let you enjoy some tunes; also a set of serious headphones, the kind that go over your ears to block out ambient noise for when your roommate doesn’t want to hear your music or you his. A white noise generator if you are a light sleeper. A clock radio if you don’t have one in your already mentioned dock. Usually the only pet dorms allow are fish so a small aquarium with hearty fish is nice to have. Dorm mattresses tend to be old, worn out, and stained with body fluids of people you never want to meet. Get one of those nice memory foam mattress pads to keep a comfortable distance from any bedding grossness. Health supplies: ibuprofen, antacid, Imodium, cough syrup, cough drops, bandaids, antibacterial ointment and sunscreen. A plant, I kept a big rubber tree since it was impressive and hearty. Bookends or a bookcase if you are an incorrigible bibliophile.

you’ll need these: cleaning supplies a fan (it can get hot in the dorms) clothes (both for warm and cold weather) laundry basket laundry soap hangers alarm clock foam pad for mattress shower shoes laptop first aid supplies towels bedding (posters, pictures of friends/family to decorate with) tv small refridgerator (it would probably be best to contact your roommate if you have one so you two can decide if somebody is going to bring a tv or small refridgerator)

also some of the guys in our dorms would take game systems and play Halo or guitar Hero so that could work too

a laptop…a cell phone… clothes…yourself… and other stuff. like beanbags. and decorations:D
