Is it possible I could be addicted?

I paint my nails twice a day with the same color, (Pink) I feel like, if I don’t paint my nails, then my hands will look horrible. I don’t have confidence problems, But I feel it could be a fear. I have tried stopping for 3 days, but I end up painting them anyways. My parents took away my nail polish and left me with clear. I got to the point to where I painted my nails clear with several coats, that they had a tint of light baby blue. (The clear polish is L.A Colors Hardner and strengthener, which is clear blue) Can someone tell me if its an addiction, or if its a phobia?

I think that your perents did do something good that way you can stop. I would not exacly call it an addivtion, I just think that you did it once and sort of got into a rutine and sometimes when we get into a rutine and do it and it’s on a daily life it’s hard to break it you know.

I think that the best thing to do would be you know just telling your perents to take it all away and when the color starts fading and all you ask for the color to color them back. You just like things to be perfect and that is ok, but you know you gatta put the limit on somethings.

Answer #2

Tell your parents to take all the polish out of your room again, even clear. Take out all other material that could possibly be used on your nails.

Like haloyeah said it might be because its a routine for you.

I agree. possible mild ocd. I used to be the same way with my hair!

Answer #4

I was just writing out exactly what fireson13 said. It sounds like Obsessive Compulsive disorder. Basically it means you have certain things you HAVE to do or you feel unbelieveably aggitated untill they are done.
