Is it possible that my teeth are moving?

So i had braces for about 2 years, and got them off last summer. I have worn my retainer for the whole year since, but i have lost it, and have to wait for a new one. I could just be paranoid, but could my teeth have started moving back withing like 3 days. I am supposed to wear it every night for 10 years so :s

i highly doubt your teeth are moving, braces permanently move your teeth, unless you really mess them up. i think you are just paranoid i bet if you stop thinking about it so much your teeth wont seem to be moving so try thinking about it less.

eventually the teeth will move until it does not feel anymore pressure from other teeth or the retainers. it is normal. another possible reason why this could be happening is that wisdom teeth could be pushing up against the rest of the teeth and causing them to move. lastly, because your teeth were “fixed” to stay in one spot during the time you had braces and retainers, adding forces such as eating can make the teeth feel loose within the gums.

just think of it like this: put your finger in soft dirt. slowly start moving your finger in a circular motion. you will notice the dirt slowly move away and create a crater. thats how your teeth react with your gums. but on the upside, the gums with grab hold of your teeth and soon will be strong.
