What is Hell?

Read Luke 16:19-31 and them tell me what you understand.GOD don’t want use to go to hell but we have a choice to make HEAVEN or HELL.If GOD make the world don’t you think he could have everyone serving him.He want’s us to choose.

Hell as toadaly has said was used in many cases interchangeably with grave. Howver the Bible speaks of a day of judgement.

Malachi 4:3 tells us that And ye shall tread down the wicked; for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day that I shall do this, saith the LORD of hosts

God wont burn us forever. people will burn and turn to ash. just as anything else burns. BUt God does not want any of us to meet this fate. thats why He sent Jesus and gave us Guidlines to follow in the Bible so we know how to escape this.

hell and heaven are just ways to direct people to doing positive, it’s put in kids minds as kids and eventually grow up beliving part of it, just like religions being another way in controlling how people think,

hell don’t exist…so you acctually think god would be able to let uss get tortured for the res of our lives ??? where living on hell right know

The New Testament does describe Hell whether literal or not, please read the Gospels and you will find where.

In every instance, ‘hell’ is a mistranslation of either ‘grave’, ‘Gehenna’ (which was an actual place in the real physical world), or is a reference to the greek underworld of Hades (Tartarus being part of that). That includes all those quoted above.

The modern concept of hell was invented by Dante in the middle ages.

5:22: But I tell you that anyone who is angry with his brother will be subject to judgment. Again, anyone who says to his brother, ‘Raca,’ is answerable to the Sanhedrin. But anyone who says, ‘You fool!’ will be in danger of the fire of hell.

5:29: If your right eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell.

5:30: And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to go into hell.

10:28: Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell.

23:15 “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You travel over land and sea to win a single convert, and when he becomes one, you make him twice as much a son of hell as you are.

23: 33 “You snakes! You brood of vipers! How will you escape being condemned to hell?

25:28 “‘Take the talent from him and give it to the one who has the ten talents.

25:29 For everyone who has will be given more, and he will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken from him.

25: 30 And throw that worthless servant outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’

25:41 “Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.

25:46 “Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.”

Mark MAR 9:43 If your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life maimed than with two hands to go into hell, where the fire never goes out. 45 And if your foot causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life crippled than to have two feet and be thrown into hell. 47 And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out. It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into hell,

Luke 12:5 But I will show you whom you should fear: Fear him who, after the killing of the body, has power to throw you into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear him.

16:23 In hell, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side.24 So he called to him, ‘Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire.’ 26 And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been fixed, so that those who want to go from here to you cannot, nor can anyone cross over from there to us.’

2 Peter 2:4 For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but sent them to hell, putting them into gloomy dungeons to be held for judgment

Revelation 19:20 But the beast was captured, and with him the false prophet who had performed the miraculous signs on his behalf. With these signs he had deluded those who had received the mark of the beast and worshiped his image. The two of them were thrown alive into the fiery lake of burning sulfur.

20:10 And the devil, who deceived them, was thrown into the lake of burning sulfur, where the beast and the false prophet had been thrown. They will be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

21:8 But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars–their place will be in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death
