What is fried ice cream?

How does it work? I tasted it once, but I still don’t get the concept.

Hi,

From what I understand (and I only saw it on the Food Network once) the ice cream is scooped, then frozen solid, then rolled in crumbs, then frozen again (so the crumbs/outside get super hard), then fried for 30 seconds. So it’s kind of flash-fried, and the outside has been frozen so much that it doesn’t melt from being fried. It’s delicious too.

Thank you for the great answer!
