What is a prom?

Hm I live in England and we have a prom =) I think they’re more of a big deal in America though (;

A prom is just a fancy dancing party. Usually they have themes as well.

I don’t know what they’re for in America

But in Australia we have proms,but we don’t call it a “Prom” we refer to it as a “formal”

Its usually in Last year (Yr 12) that we have it and its kind of like a rite of passage kind of thing

Its a dance, kind of fancy dinner and venue involved and its just basically celebrating your last year of being a Senior and going on to next year where you will probably not see a majority of your classmates and teachers as you go to study at different collages etc.

Teachers and the Head Master usually attends the formal and there are different themes for each year

I guess its kind of the same to the Americans but all I know its a cool experience to share with your friends, class mates and if likely a date. I know that when I watched my brothers “Prom” video I cried - because I’m in Yr 11,nearly reaching Yr 12 this year and celebrating the end to a experience amongst friends and classmates, and leaving to enter the world is pretty much intimidating and sad… I know I’ll cry at the end of my prom =] or most likely my Graduation =]

Its a high school dance that has dates. Like Its a dance that you have to come with a date.
