What happened to constitional conventions?

When the US was a very new nation there was constitional conventions that would review the constition to see if there were needed in any changes. Today the constition seems to change based on court decission and not a convention. I would say the courts are out of their jurisdiction they are suppose to interrupt the law not make the law.

Answer #2

Constitional conventions were called for in order to modify or create the constution. They initially met to modify the articles of confederation, but then decided it was better to just do away them and create a new constitution. The reason we don’t have them anymore is because the constitution was designed with the ability to change it through the amendment process. Although, there is nothing officially preventing a constitutional convention from occuring (the consititution actually refers them as one of the means to ratify an amendment), they are not really necessary.

ok, 1st of all, Tha US actually,(tho its hard to believe nowa days lol.)had to go through a heck ofa lot just to get tha constition in activation back in tha day. Now days they(as in the branches) can over rule what tha president says when he is trying to make a new law or bill. they onlytime they pass as law, is if they truely belive in what it will do, and what it stands for.
