What exactly is caculus?
Ok, I found out that I will need to take advanced caculus at Wake Forest University so I can become an OB/GYN.
I know what caculus is, its a type of math that deals with theoretical stuff. Could someone give me more details about it?
It’s actually quite applied. Here’s a REALLY rough idea: think of a graph. One with a nice smooth line (http://wiki.hydrogenaudio.org/images/4/4b/TAK_performance_graph_1-0-4.png like these ones). Calculus lets you know how fast the line is going up (how steep it is), the area under the line, and so on. This is generally a very useful subject. Many applications. The most obvious ones are business applications: is the line is the “price” you change for a particular amount of items, for example, the area under the line would be profit. And so on.
The examples I gave are really basic. I’ts a very applied, and very useful subject.
