What element other than water expands when it freezes?

Answer #1

Water is the only element that expands when it freezes, to my knowledge, as it forms a crystaline lattice.

This unique property of water (that solid water floats on liquid water) is the foundation of life on earth to a large degree, as without it, the planet would be an ice ball.
