Could this move onto something bigger?

A family friend came up to visit the other day, and he brought his son (called Niall) who I havn’t seen in years. He’s the exact same age as me (16 days older). While they were here, I got in a fight with my brother, then went upstairs to calm down. A few minutes later Niall came up to my room to see if I was ok. This is the confusing bit. He laid down on my bed next to me, but I got up and sat at the other end because it felt a bit wierd. Then we started talking about how he thought my bed was comfortable but I didn’t and that I was getting a new one. After we stood up he hugged me then we went downstairs together. It was really nice, but I’m confused about what was happening. We’ve known each other since we were kids, but I havn’t seen him in years. You might think this is normal friend behaviour, but I don’t think it is, as we’re both 14 and it’s a bit strange that a friend of the opposite sex would lay next to you on a bed if it was normal friend behaviour. What do you guys think?
