What does it take to get a college scholarship?

Do you have to get all a’s and b’s to get a college scholarship? And the extra currcular activities, do you have to take a lot of them? What kind of extra curriculars are the best? And I don’t mean one of those harvard colleges. I mean those colleges that are not community but not too big and hard to get into. The colleges that are in between, I guess. And what are good colleges that are not amaingly hard to get into? And … Last but not least, what …is a college scholarship exactly?

Thank you. :)

There are literally thousands of scholarships available out there. Don’t apply for one or two. Take a week or two during the summer and apply for HUNDREDS (make it your job to apply). You may only get a few but even then it’s worth it if they’re a few hundred to a few thousand apiece.

Good luck!

Do as well as you can with your grades, try to get involved with activities and stick to them. A college would prefer a few years of two or three good activities to ten activities you tried and quit.

Also, take the hardest courses in high school you can handle. If you’re ready for honors, take it! If you’re ready for AP, take it!

You don’t actually have to get excellent grades to get into a good college; but, it would be a good idea to maintain an A/B average. Many scholarships these days focus on the individuals personality rather than their grades. You can even get a scholarship if you’re un 5’0(I did).lol…It’s also good to be in extra curricular activities such as: tennis, volleyball,SGA, and Beta Club. Anything that you might be interested in, just try it. There are a lot of scholarship offerings on www.fastwebs.com. Trust me, there are some really good ones on there.

                    ~GOOD LUCK!!~

There are a lot of different scholarships. Some are merit based and some are not. Some are based on financial need. Some have multiple criteria. At the university I went to I was offered a work scholarship if I majored in physics but I only wanted to study music. Through my dad’s employer a scholarship was available to me if I went to school at our local community college. I’ve even heard of scholarships for students with red hair and for students who are left handed.
