Is it proper to correct your teacher?

Okay so in class my teacher may make a mistake and im usually the first to correct them. Now that I see it I think its annoying them. Should I continue to correct them each time…and almost be a show-off? Or should I correct them?

Answer #1

depends on the teacher’s personality. some take offense, some dont. if you’re itching to correct your teacher and not sure if he/she will take offense or something, suggest you wait till after class and discuss the thing in a calm manner (I.e. NOT in you’re wrong, I’m right tone)

Answer #2

You’re fine. Don’t listen to those people saying its rude blah blah. I mean if it’s the middle of a lecture, don’t bother, but if she incorrectly solved something or wrote something wrong, then yes.. correct him/her. They appreciate it most of the time, because they don’t want other students getting wrong information for their (usually) accidental mistakes.

Answer #3

You can correct them if its really bothering you and its obviously wrong nobodys perfect and they can learn from there mistakes they night even be impressed that you would know either way it is still good that they know if they are wrong or not

Answer #4

Like If They Are Wrong Just Say Excuse Me Ms Or Mr And Correct Them Nicely :) Thts All I Correct Some Of My Teachers They Like It Like Ohh Yeah Your Right Sasha :) Lol

Hoped I Helped :) Btw Add Me If You Want

Answer #5

It depends. If they’re giving information that is obviously wrong and is important (say you’re in a science class and they’re talking about balancing an equation, and one of the numbers is wrong) then by all means correct them. The teacher does not want to be teaching incorrect information. If you’re talking about a spelling mistake or whatever, dont be a pain in the butt… Let it go.

Answer #6

You know what?

Unless it’s somehow detrimental to the lesson, leave it be - you’re not doing anyone any favours by proving yourself smarter. As long as you know better, that’s all that matters.

Answer #7

Never, ever correct your teacher no matter how wrong he/she is.

I remember back in Radio School a senior teacher had brought in a new whizz-bang device that displayed Morse Code, Teletype, etc. Our tutor had used it to copy Teletype/Morse Code transmissions off-air and had copied the weather transmissions from the Australian, and New Zealand Weather Services. I had a Teletype machine here and could also copy the same transmissions. Our Tutor was talking about the transmissions and mentioned that following the Australian Teletype transmission, a transmission in Morse Code was sent.

I knew that the Australian Bureau of Meterology only sent transmisisons in Teletype (at 50 Bd.), and Facsimile. The New Zealand Weather Service sent Facsimile, Teletype, and Morse Code. I tried to correct the tutor and was almost thrown out of the class!

Answer #8

You can correct them, since when were teachers perfect? Not in my book. You should correct them, they’re giving students the wrong information and that can lead to several embarrassments/mix ups in the future. Just don’t do it as a show-off do it in a polite way so you don’t seem full of yourself. In my school our teachers would purposely make mistakes and reward those that found out the mistake so yeah you can correct them :)

Answer #9

Yes correct them, just don’t do it in a show-offy way.

Answer #10

Stop correcting them. Its rude and pointless or correct them affter class
