What do this slogan mean god help them that help themselves

God help them that helps themselves. What is the counter argument of the following paragraph listed below?

Basically what is saying is when you need help dont always look forward to god helping you. Try your best first. Learn from your mistakes. Dont depend on others when you can do it. God is not here to do things for you. He’s here to help you. Don’t always depend on god. Try your best everyone is not perfect.

Answer #1

I don’t know but ill guess ok I dink that it really means dont wait for gody to help you halp urself

Answer #2

I think If you are too ignorant to at least try helping yourself with real and practical applications, then you are ‘damned’ to repeat the same trials that compelled you to invest your faith misguidedly in organized religion.

Answer #3

I have to point out that “God helps those who help themselves” appears nowhere in the Bible or any other tome. In fact it was probably first said by Benjamin Franklin who wasn’t even a Christian.

The Bible actually says the opposite. It says that God helps the weak, downtrodden, and helpless.

The phrase did resonate with the Protestant religions that descended from Puritanism and believed that hard work was in itself good because it instilled character and was necessary for salvation.

Answer #4

The phrase means that those who wait for a god to help them, are usually disappointed, because there aren’t any gods. Do it yourself if you want it done rather than begging a nonexistent entity to do it for you.

Answer #5

Well in my opinion, it is a surreptitious phrase used by religions to let people THINK all actually Came from their gods! They usually bargain on the support of ignorant people who also do not dare to ask questions nor search for answers! You see, their market lays in the masses of mostly poor people, who are so scared they lose even the little bit they’ve got! Freekin Tragic!

If god helps those who help themselves, doesn’t THAT mean that the gods as a matter of fact, DIDN’T DO ANYTHING AT ALL in their life’s, or is truth so difficult to face???

What about the prayers before a rugby/soccer or whatever team sports: …and please god, let the best team win? Huh, isn’t that obvious, that the BEST team will win? Mean to say, there is only one winner after all! What if, the other team win because of an unfair referee? Does that mean they won because they are the BEST team and the gods wanted them to win? Or is that again, …we don’t always know what the gods have planned for us?
Just a thought ;-)
