What do I say in a speech at the funeral of my brother who was bad?

My brother died this week and I am going to his funeral tomorrow. I the oldest of 5 remaining siblings and am expected to say something on behalf of the family. My brother was a con artist and took advantage of people throughout his life. I never was close to him. What do I say that is not hypocritical? Thx doug

remember that your brother has passed away, and that all his trangressions, and past problems have not been washed away. even if he was bad, he is dead now, so try and be postive and think of anything and everything he may have done good. think of at least one or two good times you had, or of childhood. you dont have to praise him, but remeber that you can always say that no one has to mourn him, but celebrate that he is in another place now. etc etc. im sorry for your loss and hope I could be helpful!

Well I’m not too sure but you could could maybe say stuff about when you’d were younger ? I went to a funeral of a guy who murdered his best friend and then commuted suicide and they said ‘in a moment of darkness’ when they were talking about how he died and I think they put it really nicely cause he actually was a very nice guy only he had problems x sorry for you and your familys loss x

Firstly, sorry for your family’s loss. Try to be real and share your thoughts. Most attending will be aware of his past, and it’s just that… his past. Try to share your feelings about the loss, maybe things like, “I wish I could have been closer to him in his final days,” or “ I wish I could have known him these passed years as we did in our childhood.” Was he fun in his youth? what about the early years, where he was a youthful part of the family? Concentrate on being real, and not syrupy and fake. My girlfriend and I hope this helps.
