What can cause pain in the lower back and when urinating?

My mom said she has had pain in her lower back, on the right side, and it hurts when she urinates. This happened for a week. What could this be?

Answer #1

Then she’ll either get over it on her own, or it’ll get so bad she’ll HAVE to go in; either way, you can’t really help somebody who is stubborn and unwilling to go in.

Answer #2

Its a fricken’ kidney stone! Duh!

Answer #3

It’s POSSIBLE it’s a kidney stone, but it’s also likely it’s a urinary tract infection that has spread to her kidneys since it hurts when she urinates. Regardless, we’re all far-removed, and I’ve not yet encountered a doctor on this site. It’s foolish to rely on a bunch of teenagers and adults (who aren’t medical professionals) for a medical diagnosis. :) Tell her to go get checked out.

Answer #4

I did tell her go to to doctor but she will not listen.
