What can I do about the swimming carnival?

In school we have a swimming carnival every year and I never swim in it because I can’t swim 50m. The girls in my age group didn’t even ask me they just put my name down because they don’t wanna swim and I don’t know what to do because I can’t swim that far and im allready on the team and we don’t have any emergencys.

You could either just be honest and tell them that your not that good of a swimmer and you can’t swim the 50m or go straight to whatever adult is in charge and talk to them about it. That way they can probably help come up with a solution, find someone else to fill in or just have 1 less person. The only other real option would be calling in sick that day but the down side of that is, you’ll be letting others down and you’ll miss out on everything else. Plus I am guessing you’d probably feel pretty crummy about telling a lie!
