What are some swimming techniches?

I am 13years old and swim 5 days a week and I feel like I am really slow. What should I do to speed up?

Are you swimming in a pool, lake or the ocean? If you swim in the ocean, you will have to fight against the current which may slow you down a bit.

The best way to time yourself is to strap a water-proof watch, select a point where you have to swim too and everyday see if you are getting to point A quicker then the previous day.

If you are swimming in a pool, just time yourself doing laps up and down the pool. :)

Sorry mate, I cannot give you any swimming techniques as I’m not a very strong swimmer. lol, the only stroke I do freestyle and only use my left side of my face to get oxygen when I swim. ;)

Work the basics and details. Kick and pull sets are amazing for working technique, so are some drills though… You just have to play around with it… Lifting weights would also be a great idea. I am one of the fastest people on my team and I can lift as much as my coach.. But I’m no where near as built as he is. You can be strong without having to bulk up.
