What are some major beliefs of the catholic church?
I was just wondering what some major beliefs for catholics are. Detailed please :)
Thank you so much. That actually helped a lot!
Well, im roman catholic and we believe that Christ died for our salvation because at the beginning of time Adam and Eve commited the first sin by disobeying God and eating of the fruit of the forbidden tree. so sin has been in the world ever since, when Adam and Eve bit the apple God promised to send a savior who would open the gates of heaven again, that savior was Jesus. Mary conceived him of the Holy Spirit and so she remained a virgin before, during and after the birth of Christ. when Jesus turned thirty he began his public ministry and taught to all the people of God ( there are three persons in one God, this is known as the hypostatic union, or the Trinity) Jesus is one part of the trinity, which humans really cant understand because of our finite minds. well, when Christ died, being crucified after being betrayed by one his 12 apostles, Judas Iscariot, was resurrected into heaven on the third day. the night before he died he broke the bread and told his apostles that this was his body and that it would be sacrificed for us. that was the first mass ever and now priests bless bread as he asked them to continue doing until the end of time. there is so much more but this is the basics, some people ask me why I love Jesus, I just ask why not?
Hoped this helped, God Bless
I agree with a lot of the first comment as I myself am Catholic however I don’t agree with everything the pope is coming out with. I think he’s a bit stuck in the pasts sometimes and needs to grow out of it. For example I don’t believe that “floods are caused by people committing homosexual acts” that’s just nuts.
