What are parents thinking?

I consider myself an open-minded person, though I can always be even more accepting and open-minded. I also accept a lot of what my parents say and do and understand why. This incident just confuses me:

  1. I want to go to a park about 200 feet away from my friend Zach’s house, with me, him and our friend Ashley. [520 = 1 block so that’s how I guesstimated]

  2. My parents won’t allow us outside of his house the entire visit.

  3. His mom won’t allow him inside the house the entire visit.

  4. All parents don’t trust us because they think we will kiss or do ‘’naughty things’’.

Why are their ways of preventing that completely opposite? I’d also like to say that parents who protect too much don’t let their child experience enough of the world for themselves, and that child will become spoiled, dependent on parents and others, and won’t be so proactive when living on their own. In fact the transition to living on their own and adult-hood could be traumatic with such over-protection. Do you agree with that idea, that protection should be moderate and not TOO MUCH of it?

I know that you’ve probably heard this before “when you have children of your own you’ll understand”..Believe it or not but it’s true…Unfortunately the world that we live in today is full of hate…and with that being said…Be grateful that you have parents that love you enough to say no…Be thankful that your parents care about your whereabouts..You may have good intensions when you leave to go out…but some sick person out there doesn’t..You won’t be a kid forever…and when you’re old enough to fully understand why your parents were strict…you’ll be grateful to them

  1. My parents won’t allow us outside of his house the entire visit.

They dont want anything to happen to you outside (by other people)

  1. His mom won’t allow him inside the house the entire visit.

She doesnt want you to do anything (I.e. have sex)

They’re aiming for different things…

And its always a balancing act. Kids never think they have enough freedom. When you’re a parent, things will look different.
