There is no set age. Whenever you feel sexually alert and mature, you have every right to relieve yourself of any sexual stress/ tension. Masturbation is healthy and safe (if done correctly) and so you should not feel ashamed of it. It’s much more mature then simply going out and having sex, etc. It’s responsible, easy and it’s safe. Do it whenever you feel ready!

At around 5 years old, children start to touch themselves because this is pleasurable to them. Now this isn’t masturbation per say but I think you should apply the same rule, if masturbation is pleasurable to you then you are of the right age. There is no definite age since masturbation is something very personal and some people don’t enjoy this activity at all during their life time while others do it all their lives. Alternatively, I would have to guess that most people probably start to masturbate around puberty to in the early 20ies.

you can look at some early studies were some can start at 4-6 yr, it is pleasurable and not a dirty thing so boys or girls touch it and it feels good then why not.
