Wet to straight hair iron, bad for your hair?

I’ve been seeing these hot irons that you can straighten your hair with when its soaking wet. My cousin has one and you can see the steam coming from her and and hear it sizzle. Would this fry your hair? Like damage it? I was just wondering, because I’d like to get one but not at the expense at my hair, my hair is really healthy. Thanks.

I would not recommend you straightening you hair when it’s wet because I used used to do that a couple years ago and that really messed up my hair. The moisture of course makes the straightened hair look really nice because it adds a lot of shine when you apply heat to it, but the after effects are really nasty looking. It makes your hair a lot more vulnerable to breakage. Also makes sure you use some type heat protectant spray ( I personally like the Treseme heat protectant that you can get from walmart) and if you have one, use a flat iron with ceramic plate as opposed to metal ones because the ceramic adds less damage. I’ve been attending beauty school the past 4 years, and I’m not saying that my advice is better cause of that but it’s from my own personal experience. Good luck

Answer #2

well every iron is bad for your hair but if you condition every day and wash every other day and turn the heat on the straightener down youll be just fine

Answer #3

Hair is much weaker when it is wet. I doubt the iron does any specific damage, but messing (in any way) with your hair when it’s wet would be far more damaging than when it’s dry.

Answer #4

it only sizzles because thats what water does when it comes in contact with heat, but the wet straightening iron just takes the water from the hair and turns it into steam, then heats the hair to make it straight. I dont think its bad, I think you should try it!

Answer #5

I have one and I takes FOREVER to get my hair dry I have found it easier to dry then straighten but I dont think its bad for hair :)

Answer #6

Answer #8

I don’t think its any worse then doing it dry. Its just because the hair is wet, thats why it sizzles.

Answer #9

it burns your hair when you do it wet. I have one but I dry my hair first and then use it.

Answer #10

I dont think it does but I still wait for my hair to dry before I do that
