Welfare research

I want your opinions on welfare. I am writing a research paper.

Answer #1

Lots of people need some kind of assistance at some point in their lives. The difficulty is to not make them invalids with our assistance. The best kind of “welfare” comes when there is genuine person-to-person interaction. Despite my life-long “liberal” tendencies, I realize more and more that government, alone, can’t provide what many people need to improve their lives…which does not give us an excuse to not create a government that does do what government can to to provide temporary assistance. AND, more importantly, create an economic environment in which more people rise into the middle class.

Answer #2

Any free ride will be abused by some. The question is, do the benefits outweight that known cost?

Answer #3

I think new restrictions should come about since some see it as an easy ticket to income.

Answer #4

Never intended to become permanent / a career as many have made it - intended to be temporary assistance.

Answer #5

“Government can provide critical services in times of need, but it cannot put hope in your hearts, or a sense of purpose in your lives” - George W, Bush
