Do these purple veins mean I'm sick?

okay.. thank god im like annonymous… this is kinda funny…. I notice that I have veins showing through my skin on the sides of my hips and it spreads onto both butt cheeks. yes. lol. its true. but I’m only 15. the veins are purple, and they arent popping out of my skin, but they are visable and they are freaking me out. im not like sick or anything am I??? o_o

i really doubt that they are scratch marks, i’ve had them for a while. does it mean im losing weight? I don’t need to lose any, im too skinny already…

No, viens are always purple.. well there blue and with the blood that’s red it equals purple.. like first grade stuff well anyways your fine my hips have some lightly visable viens there too I think everyone does. Just some people can see theres better than others.

ARE THEY DEFINATELY VEINS OR COULD THEY BE STRECH MARKS? THESE ARE CAUSED BY WEIGHT GAIN OR LOSS

i thought that purple veins mean that it is something poison and it can make you die and i also thought purple veins can make you extremely sick

It sounds like you have spider veins, also called telangiectasia. They are a combination of dilated intradermal venules of less than 1 mm in size. It is a common problem with many people of all different ages. They aren’t bad and don’t mean you are sick. There are more cosmetic then anything.

Spider veins are caused by a variety of things such as:

  • weight gain
  • hormonal changes
  • pregnancy
  • hereditary

The only real way to get rid of them is to have them removed via a laser.
