The government has led an anti-drug propaganda campaign for decades. As a result, it is not politically possible to even broach the subject of decriminalizing drugs. But if we did:

  • billions would be saved per year fighting the unwinnable war on drugs
  • over a million people could be released from prison who’s only crime was getting high
  • legal drugs could be taxed and the money earmarked for drug rehab and educational programs
  • drug addiction could properly be treated as a medical issue rather than a criminal issue
  • drug lords would go out of business overnight
  • the corruption and violence seen all over latin America would end, and Mexico could finally become a developed nation, ending the illegal immigration problem
