Namaste, friend! If you’re thin and weak, you probably need more iron in your diet. No, you don’t have to eat meat (although if you’re not a vegetarian, meat can be a good source, especially liver - but I don’t eat meat myself). You can get more iron in your diet from many things:

Yes, there are iron tablets (and they don’t contain meat), but many foods are good sources of natural iron: for example, spinach and all leafy green vegetables (saag), dates and other dried fruits.

Iron won’t help you gain weight, but you will feel stronger. So will more proteins - which you can get from meat and eggs, but also from daal and other pulses/legumes, and many kinds of nuts (cashews, for example).

To gain weight, don’t fill up on ‘empty’ calories like sweets and greasy pastries., because they don’t give you the nutrition (vitamins and minerals) you need. If you eat dairy products (and milk), they can be good. And for vitamins, fresh fruit and vegetables of any kind.

In any case, try to eat several meals a day, instead of one big one. And after eating, relax and let the food ‘settle’.

Living in southern India, you have SO many good foods available! Good luck!

ps… the important thing is to get a healthy body - that’s why you need protein, iron, other minerals and vitamins (by the way, palak paneer is very good for building strong bodies).

Not every man was meant to be a Hrithik Roshan. Some people are naturally thinner than others - it often runs in the family. If your father and other relatives have always been thin, you are unlikely to turn into a muscle man. But you need to be healthy, no matter what!.

(oh I wish I were back in Nepal and could have some palak paneer…!)
