Was Jesus ready?

Because Jesus asked the Father why have you forsaken me, makes me wonder if he was really ready to die for our sins

Answer #1

My understanding, Jesus was both God and man on earth - he suffered what man goes through in life and ‘why have you forsaken me ?’ was his man side and ‘Father forgive them for they know not what they do’ was Jesus, the son of God side - The trinity being god the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Ghost/Holy Spirit…hope this helps !!

If you look at what he went thru in the garden, you see that he did not want to face the cross, his flesh was screaming…NO… and he prayed and asked if there was any other way, yet, he knew even as he prayed that the answer was no.

He ended up yeilding up his will, to that of the Father. Neverless, not my will but thine be done. This shows total submission on his part, and how hard it was for him to actually do.

We tend to think it was not hard for him, because he was the Son of God, but, these scriptures show that it was exceedingly hard, even to the point where great drops of blood came from his skin, that is a lot of pressure.

I think Jesus was used to walking in the spirit of his father, and feeling his presence, and when God could not look upon him, I believe he could actually feel the lack of Gods presence, which was totally foreign to him, and without Gods spirit upon him, he was alone, at the worse time in his life, and this to him, was worse than the death that he was facing. Gods spirit was the most important thing to him, I believe.

I think that King David, was aware of this, when he prayed in Psalms 51, Do not take your Holy Spirit from me, was his plea. I think he knew what it would be like for him, to not be able to experience Gods spirit.

And you know that it wasn’t the nails that held Him up there, either. It was love for us. A great capture of what is written in Philippians is when Jesus was baring the cross up the hill to Golgatha, his jaw was set. Nothing was going to stop Him from fulfilling The Father’s will. He pressed on, straining forward.

Answer #4

* Because Jesus asked the Father why have you forsaken me,

Did he? In John, his final words are not from Psalm 22, but instead “it is finished”.

Think about it. Who would have been in earshot to hear Jesus’ last words?

Answer #5

yes He was really ready He`s Jesus, He could have done anything to the guards if He really wanted to

Answer #6

when he said that, he was asking his father why had he turn his back on me, b/c when Christ died for us, he took ALL sins, so for that moment he was considered a sinner and God couldn look upon him. if your dad turned his back on you, you would question him, too. remember, Christ was also human, so he felt sadness and heartache just like everyone else, so when his father turned his back, it broke his heart. like I said, if youre close to your father and he turned his back, youd be questionin him, either to his face or in your mind. Christ was ready, he knew his plan, and he knew it was going to take place.
