War funding
Last night, Claire McCaskill (D) Missouri said on the Bill Maher show that if the Democrats had blocked Bush’s war funding request, he would have found the money elsewhere. Is she right, or just making an excuse for the Democrat’s lack of spine?
Sounds like a copout to me - it would have forced the issue.
ugh. why is there a separate uk funadvice that doens’t really work with the main site? Ignore all my posts on thie thread except the one above.
Yep, excuses. If you oppose something, you don’t fund it just because you figure it will be funded anyway. That’s asinine. Claire makes Bush sound almost genuine.
It’s not even an excuse, it’s just plain old stupidity on her part. You might as well line our troops up in a firing squad if you squelch funding without removing them from the conflict.
It’s rational for the Democrats to vote ‘yes’ to the funding as long as our boys are in harm’s way, even if they oppose the conflict. I’d do the same, and I oppose it as well. The Democrats support removing them from the conflict (and subsequently removing the need for funding), they do not support hanging the troops out to dry.

She’s just making excuses, its hard to believe how much Bush has gotten away with despite the democrats holding the majority in both Congress and the Senate, might as have republicans in charge for all the good they’ve done. A year ago there would have been no doubt of a democrat being the next president, but after their lack of action, it’s not quite as certain anymore.
I think she’s making an excuse…the problem is, the Democrats took over because they said they’d get us out of Iraq. They’ve failed, miserably.
And Bush is about to give immunity for all the illegal wire tapping…it’s pretty sad, honestly. I think the lot of them should be shipped to the front line of the war they’ve signed off on so that they have a better idea of the real impact of their poor decisions.
