Why do my videos change quality?

Iv had my canon T3i for a while and I recently started to do videos, shooting random things ect., and Iv notice that on the camera the videos look great in HD and everything but once i Upload them to my laptop the quality changes it looks grainy and the ligthing changes also. What settings do I need to change? Is it my laptop? Thank!

There are two things happening here:

  1. Everything looks great on the small screen on the camera. This is because its a smaller screen, so you can’t see the pixels and graininess correctly

  2. The process that converts your video when you import to your laptop may be changing the resolution of the videos during the transcoding.

Double-check the video recording resolution in the camera.

Another big problem is that your lighting is just bad. To get great video, you have to have GREAT lighting. This is why the videos you do outdoors are fine, but the ones you do indoors and at night are such poor quality.
