Puppy rolls around in cow poop

if hes a big dog unfourtunatly he may not grow out of it very fast, because they retain puppyhood longer, but keep him on a leash or something

It’s instinct to “cover” their scent…If you don’t want him rolling in cow pies, then go out there with him on a 25 foot long line…the minute he starts to dive in, jerk it and say “leave it”…”no”…”HEY!!”…whatever…

Of course, trying to break instinctive behavior isn’t easy…so any time you let him go out by himself, he’ll be doing it.

Try using a clicker, I’ve used for all sorts of things with my dog.

When you take him out keep him on the lead, everything few minutes you click and give him a treat that way he knows that walking around is a good thing. Whilst with him still on the lead walk past the piles of cow poo, if he goes to sniff it say leave firmly and if he does click and treat again. You have to reinforce and praise good behaviour and hopefully the bad will go away.
