How to dislodge food stick in esophagus?

Nothing could be behind your esophagus but it could be something small stuck in there. If you are able to cough, speak then there is no worry of asphyxiation but, it can def be most annoying. you can continue to try and cough it up, what are you seeing when the small pieces come out. Does it look like food or dried mucus? Have you been sick recently or currently. Sometimes mucus can dry in the back of the airway (from the nose–the mucus draining) and if it is thick enough it can actually kind of stick to the esophagus and feel as if something stuck there. (And it is) Try lots of liquids to loosen up and dislodge whatever it is and continue to try coughing it up. If you are currently sick, drinking lots of liquids (mostly water) will help to keep the secretions thin and easy to cough up.

Whatever it is, if it begins to feel as if you are having problems breathing, or hear a crowing sound (kinda high pitched wheezy, whistling sound) and it begins to become unable to speak call 911 immediately as these are signs are being blocked and air is being cut off to the body. But, with what you described I wouldn’t expect that to happen. (;
