This is kinda random but...

Why do people say they “could care less?” Is this an american thing because everyone I know in NZ says they “could NOT care less” which makes a whole lot more sense. If you say you can care less that just silly because it means that you do care a bit. If you say you could not care less it means that you care so little it is actually not possible for you to care anyless. Sorry, I know this is random, but I am ocd and this annoys the hell out of me!

I always say “I couldn’t care less” because just like you, I cant make sense out of “I could care less” in some ways that people use it. The words “I could care less” do many sense but people use it in the wrong form when they really mean that they COULDN’T care less.

I’m Canadian but I still always here “I could care less”.

I actually had a little giggle when I saw your question.

I was wondering about that the other day too when I had told a friend of mine that “I could care less”. You are right. It made no sense and it seems like nobody truly notices what they are saying anymore (myself included).

Anyways, carry on with being OCD, it’s amusing.
