Answer #2

Ignore them, they apparently just want to start trouble.

Answer #3

there’s nothing wrong with being emo it’s a little creapy though but if your punk tell people who call you emo to go screw themselves

Answer #4

Don’t care what other people think, it’s just sterotyping and they’re ignorant. It’s like saying that white people only listen to rock, and black people are ghetto only drink kool-aid and eat chicken or all asians are math nerds, it’s just what other’s allow thesmelves to believe so just keep doing you :D Don’t pay no attention to what other’s have to say because you know who you are, and what you’re not.

Answer #5

well the lines between emo and punk are so thin anyway… Neo-Punk is the father of Emo anyway. They’re all copying you and don’t know what they’re talking about in the first place. .

Answer #6

do what any self respecting “punk” would do- show them the “bird” and continue along your way.

Answer #7

dont listen to them!!they are just jelous.it shouldnt matter what they say about u.just tell them to f*ck off :) and they must not know what “emo” is!!!

XXX fck dem lol

Answer #8

First off, taitai emo is NOT creepy AT ALL.

Now for the advice/answering your question part -

Just tell them to shut the fck up! Who gives a damn what others think? BE YOURSELF NO MATTER WHAT! NEVER change for ANYONE. If they can’t accept you for who you truly are, they’re not worth your time. Apparently those fcktards don’t know what emo truly is, sadly a lot of people don’t know the truth behind it. Your best bet is to tell them off, if they keep it up… ignore them or punch them haha

Answer #9

Most people don’t label themselves, because by saying “I’m Punk” people think you are a wannabe. People have different views - “If you say you’re emo, you’re a poser” against “If you say you aren’t emo you’re in denial”

Anyway…I don’t like to label, but personally I would say I’m a Metalhead - simply because I am in love with a range of Metal music. I often called “emo” by ignorant twats who don’t understand the huge difference between Metal and Emo

Nowadays there is a blurred line between Punk and Emo. Punk used to be good - The Sex Pistols, Rancid, The Cro-Mags, Agnostic Front, Propagandhi, Anti-Cimex, Black Flag, Bad Brains, Crass, The Exploited, Leftover Crack, NOFX, Pennywise and Refused to name but a few..(plus Gallows and The Bouncing Souls as more modern goodness)

But now Sum 41, Greenday, Blink 182 (I know they are extinct..but yeah) that kinda thing (I have even seen Jonas Brothers and My Chemical Romance and Fallout Boy being called Pop-Punk) ARGH!!

If you like the former, stick to your guns and tell them where the hell to go!

If you like the latter, I would expect to be called Emo (e.g If I said I loved Metal then listened to Bullet For My Valentine, Avenged Sevenfold, Dragonforce and Atreyu - some of their earlier music isn’t too bad though. If I listened to that, Emo would kinda make sense) But I don’t

What should you do? Option 1: Grin and bare it

Option 2: Stand up for your music and what you feel is right

Option 3: Educate them on what the differences between Emo and Punk are, and that you don’t like emo as much as they don’t like it (that’s if you don’t like emo)

Option 4 (suggesting you listen to the latter): Accept it, you are listening to “Emo-Punk” or even Emo tbh.

Anyway with all of these options, you will still get called Emo. At first it pisses you off and annoys you to hell, you get defensive (in a pissed off way), you learn to shrug it off, then get confidence to tell them where the hell they can go and lecture them on how they dress/act/stereotype or their music taste.

Every person with good music taste (Metal, Rock, Punk) will experience this (oddly the others don’t) I’m 15 and been into metal for about 4 years, don’t worry. Could be worse

Hope that helps =]
