temperature

ok…wasnt sure how to categorize this question. my question is:

its summer, its hot outside and inside your car is even hotter. i found out that its because your car acts as a greenhouse. but there is a concept i dont understand. its winter and you have the heat on in your car, then you shut the heat and car off. if no one gets out of the car, why does the inside of the car become cold? i know its cold outside but is there more of a scientific explanation? thanks.

Answer #1

The simple response it that a car isn’t well insulated. The windows, doors, and vents all help to let the cold air in. If warm air isn’t blowing in then the car’s temperature will slowly drop to that of its environment. Hope that helps!
