Why is it so hard to get hired in a big state such as texas?

My name is ray. I’ve recently relocated from youngstown,ohio to texas. My question is why is it so hard to get hired in a big state such as texas? Why are employeers worried about what I did in the past,and want to judge me for it? I moved from ohio because of a better job oppurtunity. I’m getting door after door slammed in my face. I am a very hard worker. I do have a felony 1,but I did my time and it’s like I’m doing time all over again. Is this fair? I just want to live. I just want a job. Why is it that my past has to be constantly thrown up in my face? Please tell me the truth. It should’nt be this hard for me to get hired. Honestly.

Ray: I feel your pain I live in Texas too! but I don’t think it is just in Tx that finding a job is hard…its the economy and employers probably have so many applicants to choose from since a lot of people or unemployed right now and also applying…so the last people on the list are those with little work history, poor work history, people with convictions no matter how big or small …I don’t have a record and still can’t get a job…just keep applying thats all you can do…one other word of advice: if its been a long time since your conviction let the employers know you’ve changed that you made a mistake but learned from it…this may help if you dont have any new convictions…wish you the best of luck Ray!!!
