How can I look older so I'll get hired?

Hey,

I’m 16 and a sophomore in high school and I really want to get a summer part time job. The thing is, I look like I’m still 13 and I don’t think many people would want to hire someone that looks so young. I’m not going for a big job, just this cute little bubble tea place.

Any advice, ie. dress & hair, to look slightly older so people would consider hiring me?

Thanks So Much

My son has the same problem. He’s 18 and looks 13. It’s not dress or hairstyle that shows maturity, it’s attitude. He has done a lot of stage acting and he has confidence. Once you get a job, show up on time, do your fair share of work and learn about how business operates. Use proper English, not slang and be attentive. A hard worker always gets raves.

For some reason, button-up shirts look mature. If your hair is long enough, try to do it in big wavy curls. I think that looks older. Plus it is very cute!
