Teeth Grinding

My 4 year-old child grinds her teeth very often when she is sleeping. You know why? Is it something wrong with her health? Anyone knows please give idea and advice.

Answer #1

Most people probably grind and clench their teeth from time to time. Occasional teeth grinding, medically called bruxism, does not usually cause harm, but when teeth grinding occurs on a regular basis the teeth can be damaged and other complications can arise - more info: http://www.webmd.com/oral-health/guide/teeth-grinding-bruxism

Take care !!

Answer #3

nothing is wrong with her but it does damage her teeth…they sell these things you put over your teeth while you sleep so it doesnt damage then at walmart

Answer #4

I was told that some kids grind their teeth to help set their bite…but this is only at younger ages. If you’re worried, ask her dentist. They can tell you if it’s going to mess up her teeth and also different ways to stop it.

Yea, if she’s grinding her teeth, get her to a dentist. It can cause irreparable damage, and is easily “fixed” by a bite plate as bigdady said.

Most dental insurances suck, but you might get some help on the cost. If no insurance, and money is an issue, go to the county health clinic, some will be of assistance. If neither is the answer, take the dentist aside and talk with him about his/her price. Most things in the medical world are very negotiable to those who don’t have insurance.

Answer #6

People always grind their teeth every once in a while. If shes grinding her teeth a lot, she has to go see the dentist, it causes damage to the teeth.

Usually, it is caused by too much stress. If you go to the dentist, they will put her a mouth gard(kind of like braces) that you only wear at night. I think that is the only cure.

Nothing is wrong with her health I hope,,,

Good Luck!
