Is it better for a teenager to have a debit card, or an ATM card?

Im getting around 500 dollars within the next two weeks and can’t decide whether to get a debit card or just an ATM card

Answer #1

I would say a debit card…you can use it in some places & it will take the money out in cash rather then a visa which will bill you at the end of the month. It can also be used to withdraw cash as well. An ATM can only withdraw money.

Answer #2

Like my dad said that you have to keep a certain balance in your debit card account and if you overdraw you have to pay a fee.

Answer #3

I would say Atm cuz debit you can over draw your account and being a teenager you tend to spend money more then its comming in.

Answer #4

well this is your test…you are getting treated like an adult…with a responsibility…and if you are responsible enough to make sure you budget yourself then you wont overdraw money right?! If you decide to go over board, then there will be consequences to pay…you’ll have the card taken from you & you wont be trusted with a card again…So decide, is it worth it? To ruin that trust you worked so hard to gain? On the other hand wouldnt it be smarter to just keep track of what you have…make sure you put back in what take out…if it is 20 dollars or 50 dollars then make sure you keep it at that pace…at all costs…that way no issues, no fuss & its a win win situation!

Answer #5

yeah i’d say debit too but watch out for how much money u have in ur card u don’t want to be fined for over drafting and also try and use the card’s bank atm to check ur balance and withdraw stuff. cause for example if u have wellfargo card and use bank of america’s atm machine they gonna charge for using thier atm

Answer #6

And also, debit card gonna teach u to be responsible too.

Answer #7

lol, nice one….thnx for the pts

Answer #8

Debit is easier to monitor. You have a certain amount in your account that you can constantly check. You can withdraw for cash or if you can’t you can just use your debit which is accepted at many places.

Answer #9

a debit card

Answer #10

I would suggest def get a ATM card, trust me!! I have a credit card and I spend so much without realizing it. Cause all your doing is harding a plastic card over so you don’t think anything of it, if you had money, like times I do I really think about if I need the item or not because then I actually see the money and know I worked hard for this money, so it becomes more meaningful then a plastic card where you don’t think twice about handing over

Answer #11

Sorry im going to ask a question in your question! Is a debit card not the same thing as an atm card? Im pretty sure in my country they are… I mean an atm card here would be anything you use in an atm machine, whether it be a debit card, debit plus card or a credit card. Im not trying to be rude, im genuinely curious because to me this makes no sense!

Answer #12

Same here, too … debit and ATM are the same.

Answer #13

no debit you can use any where to pay for stuff. and atm card is to withdraw money

Answer #14

Not here … debit and ATM are one in the same.
