Teddy dog question

My dog is part bichon and part shih-tzu. He has a very pronounced underbite. Is that “normal” for this kind of dog and is it something that will cause issues down the road?

Answer #1

I work at a vet hospital. Even though it may be common. It should not be. It is bad genes and the parents should not breed any more nor should th offspring.

Answer #2

Shih-tzu do not the Bichon but I have seend Shih- tzu with that under jaw come way out from under the front. I mean like a 1/4 inch. I have read about it and it is not anything that is taken away from the dog in the standard.

Answer #3

it is fairly normal for shih-tzu and most small dogs, the only known issue it will really have come out of it is when he is much older hard food will hurt to chew. There may be more but my aunts dog only had that problem
