Talking for birds help!

it depends on the type of parakeet. Usually young birds take a couple of months before they start taking. Some birds can take up to a year or more before they start taking. What type of parakeet do you have?

To a great it extend, if your bird is going to talk, it often has more to do with the individual bird than with any training you put into it. Birds are natural mimics,picking up sounds from their environment without any prompting. Some parrots will reproduce sounds they’ve heard only once. I know of one owner who, just once, yelled at his African grey to “shut up,” and the bird took great delight in screaming it back at him for years.

I’ve had parakeets that never said a single word despite hours and hours of patiently sounding out words for them and rewarding them whenever they made the lightest utterance. Then there’s my current timneh who has a fairly extensive vocabulary despite my never having trained him at all.
