Taking candy from a baby... or the other way around

I have a friend whos a teenage mother, she is sooo not ready to take care of a kid I just found out that she gives her now 6 month old baby candy. namely, suckers. is anyone else reaaallly bothered by that???

Answer #1

I agree that a 6 month baby shouldn’t be having any kinds of sweets or candy. It will develop into a bad habit. Not such a healthy style to start already. Later in life it probably will worsen into obesity.

Answer #2

yes that is a big problem its candy but it canget the baby sick. if its your friend I would tell her why it not ok - look it up and let her know it can make her kid sick

Answer #3

“a little sugar never hurt anyone”

I beg to differ.

Introducing a child to sugars at such a young age can lead to serious problems later on, such as obesity and diabetes. The sooner you let them have it, the harder it will be to keep them away from it.

Answer #4

I think that’s a problem. That being said, it’s not a huge problem. if you’re bothered by it, talk to your mom, she’ll help you out.

I love your title by the way.

Answer #5

well, I think its okay IF the mother WATCHES the baby. you know, to make sure it dosent choke. as long as the baby is supervised and watched like a hawk, I dont see a problem with it.

Answer #6

well… my cousine gave her baby saftey suckers when he was 6-8 months old and he is a happy, healthy 2 year old with ALL his baby teeth and NONE are rotten. he just never ate the small peices so he wouldnt choke and he still dosent. a little sugar never hurt anyone. oh, and who ever gave their baby coffee is kinda isnt right. the caffine isnt good for their little hearts. its not good for anyones heart. lol

Answer #7

Babies should not have any kind of candy. I’ve noticed a lot of mothers feed their babies everything that they eat, which would be fine if the baby were older and the mother mashes it up, you can’t do that with a sucker. I know someone who used to give their baby pepsi and coffee then they used to complain about how their baby was up all night…duh. It’s a choking hazard and the sugars are not very good for a baby.

Aside from talking to her about it there’s really not much you can do. Maybe the next time you see it happen just say to her “wow, isn’t he a little young for that?”.

Answer #8

no of course its not okay!

  1. the baby could choke
  2. even if it is getting supervised the amount of sugar and junk thats in sweets is not a good start in life for that baby
  3. when it gets teeth, it will rot them!

no, its like when you see mothers feeding their babys crisps or coke! its horrible plus I think its soo chavy!

Answer #9

It’s most definitely a problem, but unfortunately there’s not much you can do except suggest that she doesn’t do it.
