swollen teats following heat?
My daughter has a female 2.6lb chihuahua that started a heat cycle approximately 3 weeks ago. Her teats are now swollen. I have NO experience with female dogs, is this normal or should we be concerned that she may be pregnant? She is in a fenced yard, and the only males around here are my 5 month old 90lb great danes. Logistically, thats impossible. So whats going on with her?

could be a fake pregnancy but your dane may have bred with her. Yes it is possiable. I know it sound like it can’t but trust me. We see crazy mix breeds at the hospital I work at all the time. I have a male chihuahua that is 6.5 lbs and a female that is 4.3 lbs and he stands about 3inches higher then her. and yes they were able to do the deed. your best bet is to take her to the vet have her checked out. Then make appt. to have her spayed. Either way she should not have these pups if she is pregnant. you need to have her checked out and have the doctor let you know what is best.
