Answer #4

Answer #5

Read challenging books…

Answer #6

Reading a lot! I expanded my vocab by reading books one year higher than my average reading level & underlined the words I didn’t know and looked them up. I also signed up for websites that have “word of the day”. They email you a word everyday & it’s so simple to memorize it. There are also calendars with word of the day. I find they really help! They’re in your face all the time. Also as boring as it may seem, pick a random letter from the alphabet & open to a random page in the dictionary under that letter & just read the page. Some people might suggest reading a full dictionary, I tried and only got as far as B. It is not the most entertaining thing.

Answer #7

Dictionary, Thesaurus, flashcards, quotes, encyclopedia, language & grammar books, reading, expanding your mind by using different translators. That’s all I can think of for now…

Answer #11

Answer #12

You crack me up, Future “Duke” graduate!

Answer #13

The dictionary, the encyclopedia and also by reading.

Answer #14

Every word has a history though the origins of some words have been long lost. The history of a word is its etymology. The first step in becoming a lexaphile is to begin researching the etymology of words; when you understand where words come from it brings a whole new dimension to learning vocabulary. It becomes an adventure rather than a boring slog.
